Program for Early Learners
Children and their favorite adult spend time together exploring, learning and developing connections with each other and with nature. A caregivers’ involvement in learning opportunities helps to role model a passion for nature and for learning.
At Tyler, programs for early learners provide excellent instruction and guided exploration that encourages children to embrace their sense of wonder, while helping adults feel more comfortable with their child in nature.
FOR AGES 18 months – 3 years
Session 1: Tuesdays, March 3 – April 7 (6 classes)

As the winter season ends, we will focus on waking up from the cold weather and transitioning into spring. We will move our bodies to stay warm, discover what is happening with the weather around us and see what else in nature is starting to come alive too!

Our Early Learning programs are designed for children and adults to learn together, which build life long memories and important connections with one another and nature. We will incorporate songs, hands-on activities and stories into our lessons. At Tyler, programs for early learners provide excellent instruction and guided exploration that encourages children to embrace their sense of wonder, while helping adults feel more comfortable with their child in nature. We will be very active during all classes so please dress for the weather, leave the stroller at home and be prepared to get your hands dirty (that means the adults too)!
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. LIMIT ONE FREE ADULT PER CHILD REGISTRANT. ADDITIONAL ADULTS WILL BE CHARGED $8.00 EACH AT THE VISITOR CENTER DURING CHECK-IN.
New Sibling Policy:
We understand that brothers and sisters may need to come along and that’s OK! The class will be taught for the ages listed in the description but older or younger siblings can attend, though the class content might not be for them. All siblings must be registered in advance as a paid series participant, unless they remain in a wearable baby carrier.

Now that it is officially spring, let’s see which plants are starting to bloom and which creatures are coming out to play! We will explore our trails, meadows, forests and streams and look closely at nature to understand it better.

Kids are more likely to try new foods when they help prepare them. Find inspiration from our Edible Garden to discover where herbs and vegetables come from, and then prepare delicious dishes made with healthy, natural ingredients.

Winter: Fun with Flavors
Ages 4 – 6
Thursdays, 1 – 2pm
These program build on the ideas of Nature Play, where children are able to explore, build, collect and engage in hands-on activities in the expanse of the nature world. Children will explore together and create special moments with their adult.

Continue your young learner’s nature education with programs that build on the ideas of Nature Play. Children and adults are able to explore, build, collect and engage in hands-on activities and learn how to look closer and wonder more! We will spend time outside going on adventures to learn about the changing seasons, migrating birds and how to read a map.

From seeds to sprouts, we will start the seasonal plantings in the children’s area of the Edible Garden. Some of our plants might even be ready for harvest soon! We will learn what it takes to help a garden grow including sowing, weeding, proper picking techniques and, of course, watering.

Join us for an interactive storytime in our cozy and historic Barn. Storytime programs are for toddlers and their favorite adult. Programs include reading a story and an activity. This program is indoors.
