Description

The American yellowwood is a low branching native tree with a broad, round crown of delicate branches. Fragrant white flowers are borne in delicate 8-14″ long pendulous clusters at the tips of the branches in mid to late spring. The compound leaves are 8-12″ long and very prominent in the landscape. Lovely Fall color.

Prefers a well-drained soil but is tolerant of a wide range of soil pH. Prune, if needed, only in summer as the tree bleeds profusely if pruned in winter or spring.
