Description
Clematis montana var. rubens is a deciduous vine or ground cover, growing to 20 ft. Leaves are purplish, especially in spring, later becoming bronze green. The abundant flowers have 4 rosy red to pink red colored sepals.
With semi-double, rose-pink flowers to 2.5″ across, set off by bronze foliage, along vigorous stems, it is easy to ascertain why this won the British Clematis Society’s Certificate of Merit award in 1998.
