Hamamelis virginiana ‘Harvest Moon’

Lemon yellow fall flowers make a beautiful display on ‘Harvest Moon’ Virginia Witchhazel. New growth is coppery, turning to green in summer. As an added bonus, Hamamelis virginiana ‘Harvest Moon’ is a heavy and very fragrant bloomer.

Whether you think of them as small trees or large shrubs, witchhazel are shapely plants, with smooth, rather plain brown-to-gray bark. Handsome oval leaves turn all sorts of colors in fall. And the crowning glory is shaggy, spidery blooms with long, crinkly petals, clustered up and down the length of the branches appear in the short days of winter when color is greatly appreciated.

Plant in a well-drained spot where the roots won’t stay wet.
