Press Release

June 18, 2020

Dear Friends and Supporters of Tyler Arboretum:

On behalf of our staff and volunteers, I would like to thank you — our members and supporters — for your extraordinary advocacy efforts. On June 10th, Governor Wolf and the Pennsylvania Department of Health issued new guidelines, which finally included outdoor venues, such as Tyler, to resume operations while adhering to social distancing and safety requirements.

I know that many of you have been patiently waiting for the trails to re-open. As a result of the mandatory shutdown, Tyler’s limited staffing and staggered work schedules required us to devote our energy toward the care and maintenance of the gardens.

The recent storms hindered our ability to maintain the trails; however, I am pleased to announce that beginning Friday, July 3rd, our trails will once again be available for you to enjoy.

I would like to thank those of you who have visited Tyler recently for your flexibility and cooperation as we adjust to the timed-ticket admission model.  Please note refreshments, plants, Tyler gear and children’s books and activity kits are available for sale at the Visitor Center patio window.

Thank you for continuing to wear your masks/facial coverings when entering the gate and utilizing the restrooms – and for keeping a safe distance between other guests. I hope that you continue to stay healthy and enjoy some time outdoors!

Sincerely,

Mandy Santiago
Executive Director
